CHILDREN'S YOGA (4-12YRS) In these classes, children will explore traditional yoga poses, breathing techniques and deep relaxation, in a fun and non-competitive way. Yoga helps children develop strength, posture, focus and confidence, and encourages them to find time to be still. Stories and games will help emphasise the benefits of learning yoga skills to improve health and wellbeing. Yoga has been promoted in government initiative programmes for children as a way to help with stress and to tackle obesity problems.
CLASSICAL HATHA YOGA & MEDITATION As well as Asana (posture) practice, this class has the added benefit of of looking deeper into concentration (Dharana) and meditation ( Dhyana). Students will be introduced to some basic techniques of meditation which include the following: The Breath, Body Sensations, Sight, Sound. Half an hour devoted to meditation will include some preparation, some discussion, some seated concentration/meditation of varying lengths and forms and also as your practice develops, some feedback. IYENGAR YOGA Iyengar Yoga, created by Yogacharya Sri B.K.S Iyengar of Pune, India is a form of yoga known for its use of props, such as belts and blocks, as aids in performing asanas (postures). It is firmly based on the traditional eight limbs of yoga as expounded by Patanjali in his Yoga Sutras, emphasizing the development of strength, stamina, flexibility and balance, as well as concentration and meditation. A form of Hatha Yoga, it focuses on the structural alignment of the physical body through the development of asanas with great attention to detail, with good use of 'props',such as blocks and straps. The precise nature of Iyengar yoga leads to a quality of movement that allows safety whilst working within the body's limitations. The poses offer a wide range of benefits from grounding, energizing, strengthening and stimulating to rejuvenating, calming and relaxing. POST-NATAL YOGA COURSE This course will follow the following agenda each week: Sharing motherhood experiences -a chat and catch up (10-15mins). Yoga for mums, focussing on: Time for themselves, strengthening and realigning the parts of the body that have been challenged and weakened by pregnancy-particularly the back ad pelvis area and lengthening and stretching out the shoulders and arms ( 25-30mins). TAI CHI CHIH 'Joy through movement' is a moving meditation comprising a series of 19 gentle movements and one pose. By flowing softly and with continuity, the internal energy ( Qi or Chi) is stimulated, circulated and balanced. Through regular practice it is possible to calm the mind whilst revitalising the body. Beneficial results are possible regardless of age, physical condition or agility.
